Planning: Character Representation

Character Representation:
This is very important, within the films because this allows the audience to follow and understand the narrative of the film better. This is also important because the audience and the characters are able to be build relationships between each other.

Main Characters:
Darhyl - Boyfriend 17 Years Old
Shanelle - Girlfriend (Female Victim) 17 Years Old
Sean - Darhyl's Best Friend 17 Years Old
Antagonist Age Unknown

Roles Within Film:
Darhyl is a 17 year male, that started to date Shanelle his girlfriend for a few months. Darhyl started to to date Shanelle when he meets her at his best friends house party, little did he know that his best friend Sean liked Shanelle for a long time on the down low. The character representation of Darhyl, is that he is an innocent young teenager that is in love with Shanelle, wearing casual clothing but wearing light colours to represent the innocence of him. In the thriller his body language and facial expression shows that he is worried about his girlfriend throughout the thriller.

Shanelle is a 17 year old female that started to talk to Sean for months before meeting Darhyl at Sean house party. When she met him they instantly fell for each other, unlike Sean falling for Shanelle and her not knowing this. During the thriller, you see Shanelle is shown to the audience with the clothing's of vulnerable and innocent but has some secrets towards the audience. The body language that she shows to the audience is vulnerable and also her facial expressions when being kidnapped is shocked and emotionally scared for her life. This will impact the audience more as they can connect with her, and have feelings when she is being tortured and kidnapped.

Sean is the best friend of Darhyl's also the same age (17 years old). Even though he likes Shanelle, and he is jealous of it. He is still best friends with Darhyl. When he is being shown in the thriller he will be shown in dark clothing to show some evil within in him. the body language that will be shown to the audience is like a normal teenager but with the dark clothing nobody knows what he hides. Also in his facial expression it may look real but not what it could really be. This will impact the audience as it makes them wonder what type of best friend he is towards Darhyl.

Antagonist, is the unknown person of the thriller as he is shown in the beginning straight away. During this thriller he is wearing fully dark clothing, this allows the audience to see the evil and darkness that is within this antagonist. This is conventional the thriller genre as it goes along with the typical ideas that thriller's shows the antagonist as. The body language of the antagonist is stood straight up and shown as strong. This is because it allows the character's and audience to feel more fearful towards the antagonist. Furthermore the antagonist doesn't have any facial expressions as the face is covered up and there is no emotions shown in the face even when the identity is revealed.

  1. Some good evidence of planning here. Your four characters are discussed according to their role within the film and some discussion on how you plan to represent them.

-think about in your intro how characters are important to genre expectations and understanding
-think about the strereotypical roles your charcters are playing in terms of age and gender stereotypes.
-include images of the people who will be starring in your thriller
